Trek For Shelter
The Royal LePage Challenge for Shelter trekking series pushes brave individuals completely out of their comfort zones, trading everyday luxuries for grueling physical endurance to raise millions for domestic violence prevention

The Ken Morris Team’s momentum began in November 2023, when adventurers endured wild weather and rustic camping to conquer high-altitude trails in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, raising an incredible $1.7 million.

That passion carried forward into the Cambodia Challenge for Shelter. A dedicated team of 120 agents from coast to coast—including our very own Amber Riggs and Joey Cyr—traveled to the other side of the globe. For five intense days, they unplugged completely from technology, endured severe jet lag, slept in small tents, and utilized rustic facilities. They battled oppressive jungle heat, intense humidity, and exhausting terrain, marching nearly 100km toward the ancient, picturesque temples of Angkor Wat.

To participate, each trekker covered their own travel expenses and committed to raising thousands of dollars. Thanks to their unwavering grit and the overwhelming generosity of donors, the Cambodia trek raised another incredible $1.6 million. True to the mission of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, 100% of these funds go directly to the cause, with 80% supporting local women’s shelters and 20% funding national domestic violence prevention programs.

“If I could describe my trek for Shelter Cambodia in just three words, they would be humbling, eye-opening, and grounding. Standing on the other side of the world, surrounded by a culture where gratitude and appreciation run so deep in their values, shifted something inside me in a way I will never forget.

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to witness such resilience, kindness, and appreciation for life’s simplest gifts. Experiencing this while supporting the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation made it even more powerful. Alongside 120 incredible agents, we raised over $1.6 million for women’s shelters across Canada. Knowing that every single dollar goes directly to the shelters and directly into the lives of women and children escaping violence gave every step of that journey profound meaning.

These funds don’t just support shelters; they offer safety, hope, and the chance for a new beginning. I am deeply honoured to have shared this journey with such inspiring people, and forever grateful for the warmth, generosity, and humanity of the Cambodian people. This experience will stay with me always, reminding me of the impact we can make when we walk together for something greater than ourselves.” — Joey Cy
